Swiss Education Group sponsors prize for Bali's inaugural Sustainable Green Hospitality and Tourism Competition.
Organised and presented by Green School Bali and Swiss Education Expert (SEE) the Sustainable Green Hospitality and Tourism Competition was organised to engage with the younger generation on environmental issues and encourage them to think about achieving a sustainable hospitality and tourism industry. The students from the winning team won a summer course experience (Introduction to the World of Hospitality or Introduction to the World of Culinary) in Switzerland, sponsored by Swiss Education Group.

" It was very interesting to see the creative approaches these students have taken to tackle environmental issues the hospitality and tourism industry are facing. Some of them have made a remarkable effort and it's heartening to see they are developing a greater connection to the world they live in,
said judge Ms. Sibylle Freiermuth, Career Development Coach and 'Green Economy' expert at Hotel Institute Montreux, (one of the schools under Swiss Education Group). "

Four teams of students aged between 15 and 17 were tasked to come up with an eco-friendly concept that can be adapted within the hospitality industry in Bali. Students were given one and a half months to research, conceptualise and eventually present their concepts to a panel of industry experts at Green School Bali's annual eco-festival called Sustainable Solutions, held on April 21, 2017. They were guided by Green School Bali teachers, Mr. Garry John White, an International Tourism Consultant who volunteers as a sustainable tourism teacher and Mr. Mauricio Camacho an Enterprise Education Advisor. The winning team's proposal was an awareness campaign called 'The Bali Tourist Key', which is essentially 10 commandments on sustainability that tourists in Bali can follow during their time on the island. The students also submitted a creative and informative website as part of their presentation.

" This is just the beginning of our continued efforts to work with the future leaders of the hospitality industry. The judging panel was so impressed by the winning team's idea that they have invited the students to present their concept to the board of Bali's Hotel and Restaurant association, with the hope of implementing it in Bali in the near future,
said Ms. Cynthia Liliek Nurwendah, Program Director and Mentor at SEE.

This inaugural competition has forged a strong partnership between Swiss Education Group, SEE and the Bali hospitality community.

" We look forward to the continual support of partners like SEE and Swiss Education Group in our efforts to groom a new generation of green leaders. The hospitality and tourism industry is one of the fastest growing sectors and we are confident that competitions such as this will contribute more innovative solutions to secure a sustainable future for the industry,
commented Mr. Garry John White.
